In Semi Pro krijgt Jacky Moon (Ferrell) de kans om zijn basketbal team in de NBA te krijgen. Hij zet alles op alles om dat voor elkaar te krijgen. Dit levert de nodige grappige situaties op.

But Moon’s franchise, the Flint Tropics from Flint, Michigan, are the worst team in the league and in danger of folding when the ABA announces its plans to merge with the NBA.
